TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Kent State University

Theatre 11303 –003-201980 The Art Of Acting (3 Credits) Fall 2019

This course is an introduction to acting with an emphasis on the actor’s instruments, intellect, and imagination. The foundations of the acting process are explored.  The course is structured around exercises and activities designed to help the developing actor.

Discussions will also include School of Theatre and Dance productions, outside performances, and class work.

Theatre 1100-005-2019 The Art Of Theatre (3 Credits)Spring 2019 Fall 2018

This course uses the life-centered nature of theatre as a medium of analysis.  The course is designed to develop critically engaged audience members who are aware of the impact, significance and historical relevance of the interconnection between culture and theatre performance.  Through reading and viewing plays and participating in creative projects, students will learn cultural, sociopolitical and aesthetic meanings embodied in theatre performance, performance practices, and texts. The course gives a broad overview of the ingredients that “make” theatre.

Theatre 31304-002 Character and Scene Study II (3 Credits) Fall 2019 (Teaching Assistant).

This class prepares the student for the interpretation and delivery of Shakespeare’s text in performance.  This studio course begins to establish a practical process for analyzing, rehearsing, and performing Shakespeare’s texts and characters.

Theatre 31303-002 Character and Scene Study I (3 Credits) Spring 2019 (Teaching Assistant).

This class explores monologues, scenes, character and how they may be shaped by the given circumstance. Spontaneity, tempo, rhythm and creative choice making are also examined.

 

Rainey Institute

Taught acting in this after school and summer program to children ranging in age from 7-17. Directed and choreographed productions in the fall, spring, and summer sessions.

Towne Street Musical Theatre Camp

Taught children ranging in age from 7 to 17 classes in jazz and Broadway style dance classes. Choreographed such productions as “The Wiz”, “Beauty and The Beast” and “Bubbling Brown Sugar”. Developed and choreographed original theatre revues for the students.

 

 Sacred Heart Theatre Camp

Taught children ranging in age from 7 to 17, classes in jazz and Broadway style dance, as well aspects of technical theatre. Choreographed productions of “The Wiz” and “Monopoly”.  Designed and built sets for productions of “Annie”, “The Wiz” and

“West Side Story”.

 

New York University Creative Arts Team

Served as a teacher in pre and post acting workshops which serviced elementary, middle, and high schools in all of the Burroughs of New York City.  The acting workshops were based on historic or current event themed plays, such as “Rosa Parks, Back of the Bus:, or “Joe Louis, The Brown Bomber”.  The plays and workshop criteria were designed to stimulate the student’s reading, writing, and oral skills.

 

Engage The Art of Aging

Fitness Instructor for senior citizens. I oriented senior citizens to the correct usage of fitness equipment and taught no to low impact aerobics, water aerobics, and Pilates Mat classes.

MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE

SUPERVISOR AT LOYOLA MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY FOOD COURT, (Sodexo Inc.,)

I supervised a staff of cashiers, chefs, and maintenance employees. I also was responsible for scheduling employees, logging in time sheets, and entering payroll information. Knowledge of emergency procedures was also a requirement.  I also was responsible for ordering retail merchandise.

As a production stage manager my duties included:

  • Informing actors/dancers of rehearsal and performance schedules.

  • Organizing and maintaining records of staging, set, lights, sound, costume, and props required for productions or dance concerts.

  • Notated sound, light, and set change cues.

  • Maintained attendance records.

  • Implemented the calling and running of the show and gave notes to the performers.

  • Oversaw the removal of set, light, props, costume, and sound equipment at the end of the production’s run

  • Assured the transportation of Actors, set, light, props, costumes, and sound equipment from one site to another, via van or truck for touring productions.
